The Event
For his Brazilian wife's 40th birthday party our client wanted to give her a surprise party that reminded her of her native Rio de Janeiro.
The guests ranged from Brazilian socialites to Chelsea footballers, all whom would be accommodated in the hotel rooms after the party.
We worked very closely with Lara Akka of Organise Events who produced the event.
The Brief
Create immersive and authentic Brazilian Carnival entertainment from the moment guests enter the hotel until the end of the party, and have acts performing all throughout the evening.
The Entertainment
When we were called to a meeting at Chelsea Football Club, we knew this was not going to be any ordinary birthday party. It was revealed during the meeting the scale and the prestige of the surprise 40th birthday party that was being planned at Claridge's, and the high profile guests that would be in attendance. There was no room for error, the budget was substantial, and everything had to be just so.
The husband wanted to surprise and delight his lucky wife with the best Brazilian Carnival entertainment money could buy. FantasyBox were called because of their specialisation in costume design and intimate knowledge of this genre to not only provide the entertainment, but to advise on what would be needed for authenticity in a Rio Carnival party.
Over 50 performers were booked for an unforgettable night of Brazilian Carnival Entertainment.
It began with four Carnival Stilt Walkers at the entrance to Claridge's ballroom towering over the guests and giving a taster of what was to come.
Our Brazilian Carnival Band played a drinks reception set of Brazilian Bossa Nova music to welcome the sophisticated guests arriving in all their finery.
As guests took their seats at dinner, our 20 piece authentic Brazilian "Bateria" Band (The Portuguese word for the percussion section at one of Rio's samba schools) started up with the battle cry of the samba drums, and 20 of London's finest samba dancers in the most luxurious samba costumes this side of Rio de Janeiro burst into the room in choreographed display.
Much to the glee of the unsuspecting guests, they samba-ed their way through the tables, completely mesmerising the room with their skillful samba technique. The Brazilian dancers continued entertaining guests throughout the evening, performing 4 different acts to the live band, keeping party guests entertained for the entire evening.
At the end of the evening the guests had even more fun in store! The room adjacent to the ballroom would be converted into a nightclub, where guest DJ for the evening, Black Eyed Peas frontman Will-I-Am would play for the guests to dance all night long.
We provided our bespoke LED Samba Butterflies to entertain guests, as well as beautiful podium dancers to dress the stage and perform sets for the rest of the party.
